West Palm Beach, FL – The Olympic Heights Girls Soccer Team wrapped up a demanding two-game stretch with a 1–1 draw against Western High School of Davie on Thursday night, followed by a 3–1 road loss to Berean Christian on Friday evening in West Palm Beach.

In the opener, senior Ava Vecchio delivered a dramatic equalizer in the final minute, curling a corner kick that deflected into the net to earn the Lions a 1–1 tie. Western had taken the lead in the 53rd minute on a long-range strike that carried with the wind and tucked into the top-left corner. Despite the goals, the match was evenly contested, with strong midfield play and a composed defensive effort.

The Lions’ best chances came from Leah Gottlieb, who nearly converted a close-range shot midway through the second half, and another dangerous free kick from Vecchio. The defense held firm, allowing just four shots on target while continuing to build chemistry early in the season.

Less than 24 hours later, the Lions were back in action against Berean Christian. Olympic Heights struck first when Vecchio finished a quick combination between Gottlieb and Samara Hall in the opening minute. However, Berean answered with a long throw-in that led to an equalizer and later converted a penalty kick to take a 2–1 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Lions pushed forward in search of another comeback, creating several opportunities on goal but unable to capitalize. Berean sealed the match with a late strike in the 67th minute after a failed clearance inside the box.

The loss marks the Lions’ first of the season, bringing their record to 1-1-3. Despite battling early-season injuries and illness, Olympic Heights continues to show resilience and teamwork heading into their next match against Somerset Prep North Lauderdale.
