Olympic Heights Girls Soccer: Chasing Greatness in 2025–26

The Olympic Heights girls soccer program enters the 2025–26 season with familiar ambition and a shared sense of purpose. Under Head Coach Jim Cappello, the Lions continue to uphold a standard of excellence defined by teamwork, discipline, and relentless effort—both on and off the field.

Leading the charge is senior standout Ava Vecchio, who has delivered 27 goals and 36 assists in her career. She’s joined up front by fellow offensive threats Sienna Higgott (21 goals, 36 assists) and Alma Geschwind (19 goals, 10 assists), creating one of the most dangerous combinations in Florida. Alexa Araya adds pace and creativity after her 12-goal, 18-assist campaign, while Rachel Rothstein and Leah Gottlieb bring scoring depth and energy, with Gottlieb contributing 9 goals and 6 assists in 17 appearances.

The Lions’ midfield will feature dependable playmakers like Rita Damico and Victoria DaSilva, both returning with valuable experience and composure. Makayla Sweeting and Sami Rodriguez add grit and tactical awareness, helping control the tempo in key matches. The team also welcomes a talented group of newcomers—Rachel Camara, Emily Raphael, Juliana Gonzalez, Valentina Messiha, and Alexis Frucht—each eager to learn from the veterans and contribute to the Lions’ continued success.

One of the biggest storylines this season is the loss of Rebecca Camara, a four-year starter and one of the most influential players in program history, who will miss most of the season due to injury. Her leadership, resilience, and competitive fire continue to inspire the team each day.  Also, Senior Sofia Becraft is also sidelined following a late fall foot surgery.

Between the posts, Olympic Heights boasts one of the top goalkeeping tandems in the state. Ava Finnerty (0.94 GAA, 32 shutouts) anchors the defense with poise and presence, while Evelyn Soroka-Quiroz provides steady support after a strong campaign of her own. Together, they lead a back line committed to communication, toughness, and pride.

Coach Cappello praised the group’s chemistry and commitment, saying, “This team understands what it means to play for Olympic Heights. Every player, from our seniors to our rookies, has bought into the idea that we rise and succeed together. They’ve set their sights high—and they’re willing to work for it.”

With leadership, depth, and unity defining every step, the 2025–26 Lions are ready to embrace the challenge ahead and continue building a legacy of excellence.
