**Dates at the bottom will be updated as we get closer to tryouts.**
Official tryouts will begin October 13th and ALL players must be approved by the Athletic Department in the Aklivate System. You do NOT have to have cleats to tryout, but they are HIGHLY recommended, shin guards however are MANDATORY at all times. No jewelry can be worn at all, so anything that an official would make you take off, the coaching staff will do the same. Please come in appropriate training apparel. Tryouts will begin Monday at 3:15 so be ready to go at that time with WATER (Can fill up your bottles next to boys locker room with filtered water). If you need to see a trainer you cannot get in to that office until 3:15 so check in with coach Jamerri or myself before you go see Danny. You will be excused until he is finished. Tryouts should end around 5:15, please make sure your ride home is there. We are not allowed to have athletes waiting around, so ask your ride to be early if possible. (**Friday practice will be at 10AM if selected for team).
If you are new to the sport of soccer, it is okay. We are looking not only for the best players, but the best attitudes and players willing to learn. The coaching staff would gladly have a player that is still learning the game but works hard rather than a player that has all the skills in the world but doesn't give 100%. The selections of Junior Varsity and Varsity are decisions that are not easy decisions. The structure of any good program is that the Junior Varsity team is an extension of the Varsity team. Some players maybe put on Junior Varsity just for some experience or to see players in leadership roles before being moved to the Varsity Team. Players that made the Varsity Team in the past are not guaranteed to make Varsity team. Players maybe asked to play for both teams at any time. Team rosters are NOT locked so players are able to move up to Varsity if necessary, just as players could move down if they are not getting enough playing experience on Varsity. Players selected for Junior Varsity that feel they should be on Varsity should simply accept the assignment, work hard and show the coaching staff that a mistake was made and they should be on Varsity. Talking to the coaches will not convince them to change their minds, only a positive attitude and hard work will. Coaches do make mistakes so if you feel you are one that a mistake was made, prove it to us!!! Understand that playing a sport is a fulltime commitment, just like a job, and that we have mandatoy practices or have games almost everyday. Please consider that when trying out for any high school sports team.
If you are in a current sport, you cannot miss their practice to attend our tryout. You must arrange a date in advance with your coach, and have permission to attend. You also cannot quit a team just to start soccer, quitting a team puts your status on the soccer team in serious jeopardy.
Our goal is to have teams divided into JV and Varsity by Thursday evening if possible, but may extend the tryout if needed. Once you have been selected for the team, those of you that paid $10 insurance will need to pay the remaining $65 before Wednesday, October 22nd practice. Contribution to Team Expenses will require Varsity players to be responsible for raising $350 for the season while JV will be $200. I do not want this money coming out of parents pockets if we can help it. We do offer fundraising options, however with this not being a normal year, fundraising might not be as easy as in the past. JV schedule will be finalized after the tryouts, as other teams are needing to see if they have enough for a team. The Varsity schedule is complete, but is subject to change.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional ideas, here is a list of dates as they will come quickly.
