Official tryouts will begin Monday, October 12. ALL players must be approved by the Athletic Department in the Aktivate system before participating.
Since there is no school on Monday, October 12, the first tryout will be held:
10:00–11:30 AM — Olympic Heights Stadium
Please arrive prepared and bring everything you need, including water.
If you are unable to attend Monday's tryout, please email Coach Jim at [email protected].
The remaining tryouts will begin at 3:15 PM, so players should be ready to go at that time and must bring WATER.
Tuesday's tryout will be held at the Stadium. Each day after that, the coaching staff will let you know where to meet for the following day's practice.
If you need to see the athletic trainer, you cannot go to the training room until 3:15 PM. Check in with Coach Jamerri or Coach Jim before going to see Danny. You will be excused from tryouts until he is finished with you.
Tryouts should end around 5:15 PM. Please make sure your ride is at school and ready to pick you up. We are not permitted to have athletes waiting around after practice, so please ask your ride to arrive early if possible.
* Due to homecoming week, not all days may be used.
If you are new to soccer, do not be intimidated by tryouts. We are looking not only for the best soccer players, but also for the best attitudes and players who are willing to learn. The coaching staff would gladly have a player who is still learning the game but works hard and gives 100% over a player who has tremendous skill but does not give full effort.
Your attitude, work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to be a good teammate are all important parts of making this program successful.
Selecting the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams is never an easy decision. The structure of our program is that JV is an extension of Varsity. Our goal is to develop players at every level and prepare them for the demands and coaching style of the Varsity team. Some players may initially be placed on JV to gain experience, develop their skills, or demonstrate leadership before moving to Varsity. Important Things to Understand
If you are selected for JV and believe you should be playing Varsity, the best thing you can do is:
Accept the assignment. Work hard. Keep a positive attitude. Prove it to us.Talking to the coaches will not convince us to change our minds. Your performance, attitude, effort, and improvement will. Coaches can make mistakes. If you believe a mistake was made, prove it to us!
Playing high school soccer is a full-time commitment, much like having a job. We will have mandatory practices and games throughout the season, often on consecutive days. Please understand the commitment required before trying out for the team.
If you are currently participating in another sport, you cannot miss that sport's practice simply to attend a soccer tryout.
You must:
You also cannot quit another team simply to begin soccer. Quitting another sport can put your status with the soccer program in serious jeopardy. Please communicate with both coaching staffs before making any changes to your athletic commitments.
Our goal is to have Varsity and JV divided by Monday, October 19, if not sooner. However, tryouts may be extended if necessary to make sure we have enough time to properly evaluate everyone. Once teams have been selected, players should understand that rosters can still change throughout the season.
Once you have been selected for the team, players who previously paid the $10 athletic insurance fee will need to pay the remaining $65.
I do not want this money coming directly out of parents' pockets if we can avoid it.
We will offer fundraising opportunities and payment plans for families who need them.
More information about fundraising will be provided after team selections.
The Varsity schedule is currently complete but remains subject to change. JV games may be added after we determine which schools have JV programs and available competition.
